Iā€™ve heard nothing but good things about cataract surgery. I am opting (good word for it, eh?) to pay for Toric lenses rather than the standard ocular lens, which will correct my astigmatism. After 60 years, I will be farsighted instead of nearsighted. A standard ocular lens will restore clarity but will not correct astigmatism and would result in still having to wear glasses. And yes, the wait for the second eye to be done (April 5th) will be interesting. At least Iā€™m getting my worst eye done first, but there will still be imbalance for a time. Iā€™m excited to get it done. :grinning:

My mom had it done and shes very happy!#

Just tried the app that is mentioned in this tread and it is not active. Is it just me? Can someone point me to a settings chart that give me some starting points for different materials?

Nope, looks like itā€™s down.

Best place to find starter settings for various materials is to go to the Beyond the Manual Category and do a Search for the material you are interested in, plus the word ā€œSettingsā€ Weā€™ve been tagging the shared settings there.

The Laserbits line was acquired by Johnson Plastics, so I guess they opted to not keep the settings page up. However, if you go to Johnson Plastics and drill down to each of the laserable items they sell, in the detail view there is a tab called Documents that has all kinds of advice for whatever that material is.

Itā€™s up on the Internet Archive (one of the best sites on the net!)

Thanks for that. Hey, @jules, do we have this link in the Matrix?

Donā€™t think so. Pretty sure we had a couple of links to the original laserbits university in those spreadsheets by @jordanloshinsky, but the owner of the information has taken it down.

I can certainly add the link to the webarchive site. Looks like it might be handy for finding old information. :slightly_smiling_face:

Iā€™ll add it to the Useful Sites sheet.

Any guidance on how to convert these speed/power settings to Pro/Basic zooms/pews?

Johnson Plastics Plus (the current owner of Laserbits) wants you to fill out a form to get the current settings guide. If you are so inclined to give up that info, you can use the form here: https://info.jpplus.com/jpp-laserbits-oct.-2018

All of their products have laser settings on the product page, however they are only for the RF lasers like trotec epilog and Universal. Iā€™ve actually been talking to them lately about getting settings for the glass lasers such as the Glowforge and the K40s
