At a broke time right now, so buying nothing except absolute essentials - like milk. Oh well. It’s good to be retired and no desire to go anywhere, just stay here on the farm. Oh yeah, there are things I’d like to buy, but nothing I’m desperate for.
I was originally holding out for the new Roborock S8 (the “king” of robotic vacs) but went with the Dreametech L10S. We have LVP throughout the new house with just accent rugs under some of the furniture. So mopping was a priority and I’ve been watching the YTers for the past few months. The new Roborock doesn’t seem to do as well as the old model, just a bit more suction but less airflow which results in less pickup. But the bigger issue they have is the mopping pads just vibrate from a backing plate that moves back & forth and there’s no drying function so they can grow mold/mildew fairly quickly.
The Dreametech needs the mop water replaced weekly but the pads spin so they’re actually moving vs vibrating. It also has a heated air dryer for the mop pads as part of the auto cleaning cycle. It’s got similar vacuum suction as last year’s Roborock but more airflow so it picks up more on the area rugs. I’m planning on a split schedule where it will vacuum everyday and follow up twice a week mopping. It’ll all be under Home Assistant control so I can schedule most of the house while we sleep and then have it catch up on the master suite at lunchtime when we go out for our daily walk
I had been holding back on a lot of purchases for my new (next week) house. Cross checking with walmart+ showed better deals on everything I was looking at on the walmart site. So, the new TV is not coming from amazon and I am about $100 ahead despite prime day.
We have a small “hobby” farm, as we call it. Goats, chickens, bees on 6.5 acres. Delighted to share pics!
The entrance (that’s a neighbor’s house, not ours):
Garden area, chicken coop/run, barn. You can’t see it, but our fences go shortly before the houses in back; the white chicken coop on the right is the neighbor’s. The large garden with the wooden fence around it is ours, and we have an orchard area behind that. Then our property goes over to the left all the way to the neighbor’s house in the first pic.
We recently registered with the National Wildlife Federation as a wildlife habitat, as we get deer, turkeys, 46 different species of birds, squirrels, rabbits, and box turtles.
We had someone tell us we need to rent a cabin in Gatlinburg so we could enjoy nature. We showed them pics of our place and they said, “Never mind! You’ve already got it!” We said yep, we do!
That is absolutely beautiful!!! I am from New York City originally, so I have always idealized farm living as the place for me. Maybe one day we will retire to the North Shore of Oahu where we could do something similar. Hmm…. Gears spinning.
I should have consulted with you first. I bought the 40’s then realized you couldn’t flash, then accidentally bought the 31 light, then finally the 31’s. Now I need to crack them open and solder. But… I paid full price.
Anything else I need for home assistant???
