Progress on the resin tree

Whoa! It looked good just as the silhouette, but now, it looks REALLY good!

Just fantastic. I love everything about it. I really want to try my hand at this when I get some time. I just ordered some artresin and mica powder. Hoping to try it out this weekend.

I think you and me…birds of a feather! While I was waiting for my Glowforge I spent all sorts of money on my embossing powders and necessary tools, adhesive, etc…then the foil stuff, and on and on. Now, I’ve got all that stuff and seldom use it anymore because it was replaced by Glowria. So, now the challenge is to use it all in conjunction with the laser.

I mentioned this earlier, but this is also perfect if you know anyone needing a home nebulizer. The medicine comes in polyethylene tubes that are perfect one use eyedroppers and as the medicine is very volatile it does not get into what you are doing There is the tiny nozzle at one end and a flat tab at the other also useful for spreading the liquid about.

If someone is using two or three vials a day for asthma or COPD they build up fast. A doctors office might use a dozen a day if you could get them.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate it! Another question - so there are three layers of resin. Why start with clear? Conor control? It would seem the piece of acrylic would be a good enough starter seal. No?

The wood was warped enough that the extra clear layer was needed to seal the regions to prevent color leak.

That was going to be my question sort of… did you pour a clear layer first and then drip in food coloring or did you individually blend a bunch of food coloring with resin and then pour in the colored resin. I’ve worked with epoxy resin to refinish bars, bathroom sinks, etc, but I’ve always painted the base before pouring clear epoxy. I’ve never seen anyone color epoxy resin during the mix process.

I had been thinking about doing a couple of clear layers with acrylic painting between each layer (strokes, not fills) but changed my mind when I wanted it to look “sunset” instead. I mixed each color in the resin, which is what jewelry and resin-painting artists do. From what I understand
