Been missing 1/8" black acrylic and walnut plywood pretty badly, the majority of my designs are those two materials, but a lot of other stuff has been out of stock since before december. Where’s everyone getting their laserable material?
Search the forum for this, no need for a new thread.
Try looking for “acrylic source” or really “(any material) source”. There are probably 50 threads about this already.
Acrylic I get from Amazon. Cast acrylic is all pretty much the same and the Amazon options for sizes are way better than the PG stuff.
https://www.estreetplastics.com/ for all my acrylics.
I get baltic ply from amazon, a store called Woodever.
Ocooch hardwoods also has some interesting products.
How is that baltic? I just ordered some myself, I like that it comes in GF sized sheets.
And you may want to look at the Columbia Forest products at Home Depot.com. I get my 1/4 inch maple ply from there, and it’s precut for the Glowforge.
In fact, if you search “glowforge” in the home depot search engine, it’ll bring up several items.
I have used a lot of this product from Woodever, and I’m always pleased. Sometimes, with all the rain we’ve had, Amazon leaves it in as protected an area as I have outside, but the damp has seeped in a couple of times and I’ve had some serious warpage to contend with. Not Woodever’s fault.
That’s good to know! Mine won’t be here until next week, but I’m looking forward to trying it out. I got 20 of the 12x20 sheets, so it should hopefully last a while (who am I kidding, probably not )
But I do still like the PG walnut since I’m lazy and hate to stain/paint stuff.
Walnut ply is not as easy to find…
I have weird habits… and limited artistic ability, so staining is my stress relief and the one thing I feel I do well. I make most of my own stains, and I find myself staining things that probably shouldn’t be stained, lol.
Getting fewer clothes I can wear in public that way.
Lol, my kids accuse me of dressing like a homeless person when I’m at home, because I have so many stained clothes…
Not much of a volume price break but it should last a while,
I’m gonna need a bigger storage rack…
Since I don’t buy $800 worth at a time, I often order birch ply from Woodpeckers on Amazon as well: They have 12x12: https://www.amazon.com/12-Premium-Baltic-Birch-Plywood/dp/B013NT3OAC
and 12x24: https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Baltic-Birch-Plywood-Grade/dp/B016H589HC
Not as good of a deal as the bulk, but if you’re a hobbyist like me, still way cheaper than proofgrade.
