Don’t get me started on how many different quarters there are now (and those new nickels… ). I have a bunch of 20s and some 100s from the 70s , stores won’t take em- no strip (those came later) and the"regular hamilton and franklin heads" they think they’re counterfeit. Like using a dollar coin or 2 dollar bill with a young cashier… oops sorry - thread de-railing… abort abort

Try putting a bit of water on the scratch, that can help raise the grain before sanding. Or even a damp cloth and a clothes iron on high work every well for deep scratches.

The idea is to try to raise the grain as opposed to sanding down and leaving a cove. Works way better with compressions and dents, but helps with scratches.

Cool, thanks. The good news is this is a scratch test piece, which will be a perfect place to try that out.
