Puzzle Fix

Picked up a cool puzzle at a resale shop, but in the end it was missing two pieces.
It’s not a perfect fix, but it’s a lot better than the holes!

First sizing, then sizing the art, then coating with Mod Podge to try and match the satin surface.

Nicely done! That’s a great match. I’m especially impressed with how you’ve lined up the art. It’s a cool puzzle.

At family gatherings my uncle would slip a couple of puzzle pieces into his pocket and wait until all the other pieces were in place and everyone was crawling around on the floor looking for the missing pieces. Then he’d say, “Oh, look! I found them!” And he’d pop the pieces into place.

So, the missing pieces might be in my uncle’s pocket. But you’ve outsmarted him!

Well done. I bet that was quite satisfying

Great job, if you hadn’t told us two pieces were missing, I probably wouldn’t have noticed. Awesome save for a good looking puzzle.

Awesome work! When I was a child we had puzzles that we did multiple times … and the missing pieces were drawn onto the picture on the box. We still were happy to have those puzzles, but we would have loved replacements for those missing.

Although I have a fairly nice inkjet printer, I got sick of fiddling with photo paper many years ago. One trick I came up with is to use cheap photo prints from a drug store, walmart, whatever, when I wanted a vivid, high-quality print of something. In the case where color matching would mattter (like this), I could adjust a few different copies and go with the one that looked best “in the flesh”, putting as many variations as might fit on a single cheap print. Pennies last time I used it.

A little roughing-up on the back side before bonding to an appropriate backing, followed by a laser-cut, should work well in situations like this.
