Reductive Washi art

Thanks to @magnus.svartvall for getting me thinking about this… I already do a lot of silhouette work so I drew the lovely silent star Louise Brooks and tried the layered washi on scored wood, weeded to reveal the black layer or bare wood for shadows and highlights. I used cedar ply here.

The question I have is that I hope to sell some of these style things at my artist alley appearances… thinking of ways people could display them. Do you guys recommend one of those toothed hangers on the back? Some other idea?

Not sure about the size of this but if it’s fairly small you could use a tiny easel to display each one.

Perhaps this?..

5” x 5”, tiny easel might be a great option

I found these plastic toothed hangers with foam double-stick on Amazon. They stick well and don’t require any special prep (or nails)

Make your own from a bit of scrap. I make a wide “V” to automatically center the piece. And then just glue it to the back.

Here is an adjustable one. I would also recommend adding to bottom corner offsets from scrap to keep the art flat on the wall.

I don’t have any additional ideas for hanging, but I do want to say that your pic turned out awesome! Definitely love the subtlety of the washi tape background.

I love the results!!

I particularly love that no two will be alike. I just got a bunch more for my next pieces, since I have fallen down the early cinema rabbit hole.

Wow! Maybe command strips?

There’s a design for one here that could be made out of the same material as the design so it blends!
