Resized Book Box

I purchased a book box file off Etsy, and resized in Illustrator to accommodate a bible. I am not religious at all, but the person I made this for is very religious. Please keep the comments relative to the box design itself. I think it turned out great and I’m especially happy with the magnetic latch. In addition to resizing the dimensions to accommodate the book, I re-did the hinges to use a dowel and make them more sturdy. Sometimes it’s easier to buy the design and modify instead of designing from scratch.

It is lovely. I was surprised that a skilled designer like you would purchase a file from Etsy, but time is money and as you explained it is sometimes faster to edit rather than create from scratch.

Resizing took probably as much time, honestly, as creating from scratch, and usually I prefer to design my own so I can sell it.

She mentioned one time that her dad, who died when she was really young, would read to her from a bible just like this, and she wished she had it. So I tracked one down on ebay for her, and will present it to her in this book box. It will be interesting to see what surprises her more, the book or the box.

I love it! I actually bought the same design but haven’t printed it yet.

That turned out beautiful! I’m sure she will love both it and the bible.

I’m not religious either but that’s both stunning and incredibly thoughtful. Nicely done.

Absolutely lovely. Well done. I’m still new to GF but I am a qualified bookbinder and conservator and often make cases for books. It’s quite time consuming but oh my, what a lovely thing you have made. Well done to you from all of us in the U.K.
