Running around in circles

My son-in-law called me this afternoon with a request. Their family was working today out in their organic blueberry fields with weed-eaters and the grass kept getting wound around the shaft and they had to keep stopping to untangle it.

Being a mechanical engineer, Bill figured out that if he put in some spacers, that the problem would be eliminated. I used his measurements and made two different sizes……and a couple each out of 1/4” acrylic and 1/4” PG draft board so he could see which material would hold up the best. This is a bunch of replacement spares ready to go. They are 3" circles.

Draftboard won as the material of choice and he said they finished the field in half the time it would have taken them pre-Glowforged parts.

So simple, yet so effective….and so gratifying all a-round. (see what I did there?)
