Scoring glass/porcelain on the glow forge

Has anyone had any success in scoring glass (for cutting) for use in mosaics?

Ish. A bunch of folks have talked about it, and some have tried, but AFAIK no one uses it as their go-to

If you read the rest of this thread you’ll see someone also talks about doing curves as multiple straight lines, and also that you should only score once.

This is so no matter how the glass is scored. To actually cut the glass you would need way more power (+10x?) than a hobby laser and probably have to pre-heat and then anneal the glass afterward for stained glass. A band saw with a diamond-coated wire would be a much easier way to go to get odd shapes in stained glass.

Yeah. Nobody talked about cutting for many of those reasons :slight_smile: I mentioned it because in the linked video they scored multiple times

Just don’t try it on lead glass. It could have a worse outcome than vinyl.
