Sell projects finished or unfinished

I’m just wondering if I should paint or stain my projects or leave them unfinished.

Opinions?

if you are selling them I would think “completed” would be the way to go. Unless of course you’re doing some kind of reusable name tag/ seating place tag kind of thing. I hope that makes sense.

Depending on the project, I’d offer them both options at different price points and let the customer decide. This is assuming you are doing several of course. One-offs, I’d almost always sell completed and finished.

As a paying customer, unless the item is clearly a DIY project of some kind I’d expect finished - and that is how I approach the items I make.

It depends.

Depends on what the projects are, what materials you use, and who your audience is.

I always sell mine completed unless a customer asks for one they could paint themselves. Many people don’t want to take the time to do the painting, etc., they just want the product. I do offer a lower price for unfinished, knocking off $1-$5 depending on what design it is, but I actually haven’t had even one customer want unfinished. If it has a lot of “layers” that need to be put together, I’ll also laser it with 3M tape on the back so the customer doesn’t have to worry about gluing anything.
