That light assembly is art man.
Hahaha! This cracks me up!
Diggin the fabrication process posts btw. Keep us updated on the build!
I saw that too! Ha.
LOL, inadvertent watermark/logo placement
I have a hard time throwing things away, even the silly piece of paper. Hahaha!
Thanks! I give the credit to Fusion 360, they’re really stepping up the render engine!
Earlier this week, I posted pictures of my new workshop Workshops/Workspaces - #203 by Just-Maken-It
Here is my newest piece of equipment I just added to the shop.
Just toys to keep me occupied before GF arrives and to help make things after.
Another tool for me to drool over. I definitely could not get away with that in my apartment.
That’s the reason I have to buy a new workshop as these woodworking tools are just to messy and noisy to have in the house or apartment
Unless I could find a nearby self-store with sufficient electrical, I wouldn’t have much chance right now.
Yep they are, messy but they are fun. Congratulations on the new toy, all the lathe chisels are the expensive parts.
I got this set for my HF lathe, and they seem to be working quite well. Less than $20
And then there’s keeping them sharp.
true, that is what my grinder is for. Any set of chisels need to be kept sharp.
Nice job!
Is that designed to open the door? Or slow down closing? (seems a stepper motor as a winch for that string and you’d have an awesome door opener (hadn’t thought of something like this)
Came out great, and looks pretty artisan-istic to me!
Thanks but, I go the other route, I buy very good tools now.
After turning for many years, and knowing what I know now, if I were just starting out I would recommend something like these http://www.easywoodtools.com, cost more but are a lot better, these tools were not around when I started woodturning. HAH
I didn’t start out with these but now they are what I use, I have a couple of tools from
and http://thompsonlathetools.com
and http://www.cindydrozda.com/html/Tool_Info.html
There are many other good tool makers out there, may cost a little more but they make turning fun, and less time sharpening tools.
It is a door opener. My new house has a nice screened-in patio, but letting the dogs out meant having to let them out the screen door. Now I can just open the slider and pull the cord.
Here’s a video of it in action (Not that Google Drive attack, I promise)
It’s been suggested that I add some kind of automation. I was thinking along the lines of a linear actuator, but a stepper winch would also work. That being said, I think it’s pretty cool as it is, and I’m probably going to keep it in the current configuration.
It is very cool, and being totally nerdy, an RFID tag on the dog’s collar would allow the dog to open with an arduino with a reader, and a stepper (the linear actuators are super pricey) would be so cool (because then your dog could let himself back in.
