A client asked me if I can “engrave” on silver bars. I know the glowforge won’t engrave metals. However, I do have Cermark spray and I’m wondering if I can use that to mark(faux engrave) the bars. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. TIA
I can’t think of any reason why not as long as the bars are not too high for the Glowforge.
you have to make sure the ceremark will work on silver. not all metals are the same. not sure if i’ve seen anyone else test that.
Not sure, but I think Cermark comes in different formulas for different mediums. So, as @shop said, make sure you have the one that states it can mark on silver.
If you put tape on very solidly and engraved some of it off you would have a surface that can be colored. If what you have is sterling silver then something like potassium sulfide would do a good job. If fine silver it will be harder.
Or you could go with a mini plating kit. (if you used a bit of copper instead of gold and hit it with sulfur after that it would get very black.)
The client isn’t Bob Menendez is it?
