🍋 Slate Garden Markers

Having watched my prior garden markers get eaten by the sun, and being a long time reader, I figured I would try my hand with slate.

I gave the settings a whirl from here, and tried shellac, but I found the engraving not as deep as I wanted,

I used some wood scraps so I could see the tile on the bed

the mostly invisible tree was done a few times with settings from the forum.

Draft engrave for the win!

(I still need to do the Key Lime, and another lemon.)

no scurvy for us!

Wow, you have quite the orchard! No scurvy indeed. The markers are beautiful.

Love those! What a nice bunch of fruit you have there! Makes our garden seem rather dull with just the regular veggies - carrots, lettuce, spinach, beets….

We tried doing some Meyer lemons, and had 6 good trees going, but then one winter they died from the cold. We’d had them in our greenhouse, and tried to keep a heater running in there, but it didn’t help. I was so disappointed.

When I put the markers down I will take some pictures. Debating if I should hit them with shellac again, or if they will do well in the sun.

Most of the trees are keiki

It is nice the way all of your tree designs look different. They are something that you can enjoy for years to come.

Native trees that are unfamiliar seem exotic :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

The tags look fabulous!

Mine now lives indoors year round. Still recovering from its last die off, but I’m hopeful for this winter.

Those are quite lovely.

Is your artwork all original or did you find that somewhere?

Ooo, I really like these. And I love the idea of using them as plant markers. Your yard will look like a botanical garden.
