Source for dark black tinted acrylic

I’m looking for a source of dark black tinted acrylic. It’s hard to tell from photos on the web how dark a given tint is. Has anyone found a source of acrylic that is dark enough to appear opaque except when a light is passed through it? My application will be an OLED display behind the acrylic.

Ideally it would be carried in the Glowforge store. Is it me or have they not added much in their line of offerings in the last year or so? Amazon would be convenient, but not may have prime shipping available.

I don’t know how often they list it in product descriptions, but it sounds like what you’re after is light transmission numbers.

The manufacturers (and some retailers) should have that information, for example this TAP plastics document:

Not sure if that has the right info (I didn’t read it all) but might set you in the right direction.

I haven’t seen any really black transparent stuff, but I have a bit of Tap’s “dark smoke” and it’s pretty dark when lying flat without light coming through.

Maybe you could add one-way mirror film to a transparent or translucent acrylic to get the effect you want. Like what was done in this project:

I shop Johnson’s Plastics and Inventables. I think either one might have that.
