Oh great
Most of them work but every once in a while someone gets a dud and I hate to hear about that when it happens!

I am one of those people that got a dude. Not a happy crafter. Any suggestions?

LOL… Every new thing does not work the way you thought or expect. This is usually because it is new to you and what looks like a mountain will not be even a bump you will laugh at after working with it for a while.

First you need to explain what you have done and what is not working as you expect, with pictures if at all examples of what you are saying. Only then can anyone have an idea what your problem could be and perhaps help.

If you really received a dud (machine simply won’t cut or engrave, etc.), I’d start by calling a support agent (live Monday - Friday 8am - 3pm PST at +1-855-338-2122), otherwise start a ticket by emailing support@glowforge.com will all the details you can provide in that first email. This will reduce the wait time by hopefully eliminating a few rounds of requests for more info.

Please reach out to support. They will walk you through steps to narrow down what is happening and then take the appropriate steps to a resolution! Try not to be discouraged. Once you are up and running, I hope you will begin discovering all of the amazing things you can do and that you will love it!

I thought I saw a post somewhere, maybe not this forum, where someone made PCBs in a Basic. I bought the supplies but haven’t gotten around to doing it yet.

Edit: etching a resist on copper is in their FAQ.

Wow, I’m surprised to see that. In the past I’ve always seen it not recommended (engraving resist off of copper in a CO2 laser). Maybe I’ve been over cautious.

Thanks for sharing! It’s been quite a while since I read those sections so I hadn’t seen this.

Hard to say. We at least know for a fact that avoiding it won’t damage your machine. :joy: I would think anything that would actually damage the machine would have to be perfectly reflective but I’m not an expert.

I honestly thought I saw it somewhere else. I was surprised to find it on their FAQ!

There is a place where the Spark laser can shine as it is not CO2, and thus not an issue with copper!
