Speaking of personalized gifts

i haven’t been able to think of anything i want permanent, either. if i could, i’d actually do it.

I’ve had one planned for a couple of decades now, but didn’t have the artistic ability to draw it myself so I consistently liked for tattoo artists I could reach that drew in the right style and came up short.

Literally two weeks ago I found an artist on Mastodon who has the perfect style!
I’ve contracted with her to draw it, and have her understanding that I’ll use it as a tattoo and anything else I want to do personally (hello laser!)

I’ve seen her rough sketch and it’s gorgeous!
Now I need to find a tattoo artist who is both willing and able to do an exact copy.

I really like looking at other people’s tattoos; i have friends with gorgeous tattoos they get from different places they travel. But I’ve also seen my share of terrible tattoos. Once, while in the army, the was the guy getting a massive tattoo of his home state of Texas. I think the tattoo artist was new, because he drew out the state on a transfer sheet or whatever they use, but failed to mirror it… so you can imagine…it was huge and even he didn’t notice until the work was finished…

My brother also spent his younger, post-military days volunteering his skin as a test cavas to his fledging tattoo artist friends and has spent over a decade trying to remove the bulk of them.

@shop Some day, I might request my identification, medications, and medical conditions tattooed somewhere, just in case I wander off.

You won’t need a tattoo. We’re not far from requiring everyone has a chip implanted that can be read (and modified) by a scanner. They’ve been chipping pets for years…

You’ll likely be able to tie it into your financial institutions to pay for goods and services. Certain politicians want everyone to be wearing a smart watch or similar. Frankly, I’d rather have a chip implanted than have to wear something – I despise wearing a watch…
