Stethoscope

Hi all
New to glowforge and a friend just became a nurse , would love to engrave a stethoscope for her graduation gift.
I do see someone has done it previously ,
Anyone like to share the settings ?

It’s totally going to depend on what steel your particular scope was made from - I’m afraid you’re going to have to test to get a good answer. This thread links to a bunch of marking steel posts. Read through these and you’ll get good advice as to where to start!

It appears to be totally dependent on the steel. As originally advertised the glowforge was supposed to do absolutely nothing to steel unless you used a material like Cermark. Since its release people have found some steels to take a mark with nothing but the laser, for some steels a thin layer of mustard seems to leave a mark. Is the tubing made of silicone? That can be engraved if you have/make a jig. (Gotta make tools for your tools.)

Hmm that’s interesting, I’ll have to research if it would mess with the integrity but perhaps for a decorative one framed or in a shadow box

Post a photo of the stethoscope! At some point I would like to engrave mine also.
