SUP board crate lid

Recently I got an inflatable stand up paddle board and knew I’d want some storage on it when I’m out paddling. I had a couple milk crates lying around so I cut one down and just used zip ties to make a lid for it. Works great! However I was scared that small stuff would still just fall through, so I used some cork veneer hardboard stuff I found at Ikea, same stuff I used in my truck bed camper as a countertop, to make a little insert in the lid. However, any time I have cork, it HAS to be engraved!

I love making boring things into less boring things! Good job on the engraving!

I have a buddy who was a bit kraken obsessed (before the election nonsense ruined that word). Those tentacles were one of my favorite patterns for making his day.

I knew I had to go with something, aquatic for the engrave lol, but wanted to keep it somewhat simple

Are you doing anything in particular to protect it against water?

Was it this? It’s all I could find on ikea site.

It is just like a white hardboard with cork veneer. I’ve never found it at Ikea online, it was just in the “as is” section of my local store. It’s great and I should have gotten more
