Tested something new

So I got to test the new WeCreat vista they just announced today. I figured I’d share in the everything else category, a video I put together on it for those who are interested in getting into rotary engraving as this is one of the best repeatable cup engravings I have done and thought you may find it interesting. I kinda ramble for a little bit about the features so feel free to jump through the chapters to the engravings and rotary. Oh I forgot to mention the laser head flips outwards to save space while engraving cups.

Hopefully we can get a rotary option in an upcoming Glowforge machine as well!? I’d love to see it for sure.

A print review and breakdown for anyone who prefers to read instead of watch video:

The bottom lines:

  • $1400 for a 10 W diode laser
  • $600 Additional for an alternate laser head that is a 2 W infrared laser.
  • A rotary kit that appears to be an extra purchase but I don’t have the price,
  • Material area: 16.34″ x 11.42″ for the 10W and 15.55″ x 10.63″ for the 2W IR.
  • Smaller working area for the rotary.
  • Unusual and slightly interesting lid camera design where you take the picture with the lid open to get less distortion.

Sounds cool! I’ll have to add that to my wish list. What does the IR laser do that makes it different from the regular laser or diode laser?

The IR head is able to engrave metal without any special sprays or other items.

I kinda thought that, but wasn’t sure. That definitely makes it worth adding to my wish list!
