I wonder if giving it a good soak with water first would help? I’m thinking there are oils in it that are causing the problems.

I’ll keep this in mind and once I try it out I’ll let you know! (I still have to mill some pieces down to size before trying this out)
interesting to see the different woods and how they differ. I’ve worked with oak and it is crazy dense I wonder if lowering the power and/or speeding up the cut and doing it multiple times will help. Seams to me if it’s burning theres too much focus for too long. it’s like burning ants with a magnifying glass
