I’ve found the mulberry tree (trees if you count the neighborhood) does a decent job of entertaining the birds during raspberry and cherry harvesting time. My problem isn’t so much with the birds deciding they want a cherry, it’s that they take one bite and then take another bite out of a different cherry. Stupid birds.
The hedge of twenty hazelnuts is picked clean by the squirrels every year. They are very systematic; they leave no nut behind. Nothing but husks and shells on the ground and they do it in a matter of days.
