Masking tape totes works, but it often is hard to get off after it’s been lasered, and it’s WAY more expensive than this stuff overall.
To be fair, it’s easier to put on because actual masking is pressure adhesive so you have to rub it to get it to stick while tape just sticks, but when you’re done it peels right off unlike the tape
