Finally put back together. My first puzzle made on the glowforge. A couple of burn marks where the masking rolled up but overall I am happy with the result.

Nice what material is it?

I used a fine art paper (hot press bright) mounted to chipboard and coated with a matte sealer.

Did you coat before or after cutting?
If before you can probably wipe the smoky parts off.
If not you can go into your art and extract just the few pieces that got smoky and cut replacements.
It’s a really nice piece, you took a lot of care with it, no need to stand for that sort of imperfection

Coated before cutting! I put the puzzle in a tub of salt and gave it a good shake… this is what is left. It’s no worries… I plan to make more! I have moved across country since I made the puzzle… I doubt I would be able to recreate the pieces now

I’ve found there’s a middle ground between not pressing hard enough, and pressing too hard and making the masking more difficult than it needs to be when weeding the pieces.

Well you’re ahead of me, when I was doing puzzles I wasn’t masking, I just used baby wipes to clean up the residue! Definitely a little more time consuming, but better results with masking. You’ll figure it out!
