i knew that you had to ungroup to do the boolean but I didn’t realize it was grouped! the looking on the bottom thing is a very helpful tip. i never noticed that before!

and the funny thing is, I have sat there yelling at inkscape… saying “tell me what I’m doing wrong”, and he is! right there on the bottom!

Yeah it says stuff like “one of the selected objects is not a path” when you do this. It happens if I forget to convert rectangles to paths before I try to union them. Doh.
