I currently have my GF on a Husky tool chest but want to move it to this cart. I currently have my 175# heat press on it so it’s heavy duty but curious if y’all think it would cause too much vibration or something like that. Considering adding a piece of wood on the top which would probably cancel my concern.
I have a similar plastic shelf system but happen to have a piece of half-inch foam PVC that made a flat surface rather than trying to keep the feet out of the holes. Plywood or acrylic that fits the top would do as well. If all wheels are locked when in use, that should do it
Would it be stationary or would you move it. My only concern would be where the center of mass was and if it causes it to be prone to topping during mocment.
Thanks. I ordered a solid wood desk top that should fit perfectly! Also, thanks for the reminder to lock the wheels (I always forget)!
I originally put mine on a platform/cart with wheels. I found that it caused problems with cutting anything spiral-shaped due to the harmonic movement.
I have several of these without the wheels and my pro is on a Rockler stand with wheels. It should be fine as long as there is enough weight on it and the wheels are locked—only one way to know. I know many people have problems with harmonic resonance with 3d printers putting their printers on concrete pavers and the mass smoothes things out.
Exactly what Mark said - store your materials underneath to give it extra mass, and you can put a couple of cheap paving stones on the bottom shelf as well. Put some cardboard from shipping boxes below and on top of the pavers, as the dust is pretty harsh on metals (the cart) and other things…
