Topo Map Lamp

Engagement gift for a friend: 1/8" bb ply, 6 stacked layers in the topo map (they live on a crazy hill), streets are 1mm wide, engraved frosted acrylic layer below the map with rivers filled with copper paint and a little frosted acrylic house where they live.

Tucked a remote controlled color changing light inside. There’s an integrated keyhole hanger so it can hang on a wall or sit on a table and a simple sliding lock mechanism to get the light out for battery changes.

It was a lot of fun to figure out and assemble  and well received.

Wow, never seen a round one before! For some reason this reminds me of Mayan pyramids. You should do one of those!

Nice. I’m a fan of the barrel-style side.

Yes, I love the barrel look, and the map is just NEAT!

Thanks @timjedwards and @ptodd!
(I love the idea of living hinge but the look doesn’t really grab me so I’ve been using this barrel design for all my round things)
