Travel Edition Cribbage Board

While rummaging through a kitchen drawer last month, I came across an unused deck of cards my mother had given to my daughter years ago while they were searching for seashells on the beach at South Padre Island. As a long-time cribbage player, I wanted to design and build a compact, travel edition of a cribbage board with internal storage for the deck of cards and the pegs. This is the result:

The two halves of the game secure with magnets (both when closed and opened) and I designed a box for the pegs that also fits into the design:

With a bit of assistance from the cuttle.xyz team and application, I opted to represent the “skunk” line(s) with an engraved skunk emoji:

All of the components were designed to be press-fit together but for this build, I opted to secure everything with dabs of wood glue.

For Christmas this year, my daughter is getting a very personalized (and personal) gift from me that includes a gift from her grandmother. :slightly_smiling_face:

This is excellent!

I definitely concur on the wood glue - that way it’ll stay together even if your daughter takes it from a hot and humid place to a dry cold place. There’s even room around the edge to write in all the places it gets to travel :heavy_heart_exclamation:

Welcome to the forum! A very nice first post!

Gifts from the heart are always best. This one definitely comes from the heart. Love the travel convenience.

I use glue even when I need a rubber mallet for assembly. :grinning:

This is really cool, and like the 3rd sign I’ve gotten this week that I need to learn cribbage! My family from china taught us this really interesting card game that we played on Christmas that is really popular in their province. My husband and I wanted to play it more at home, so I ordered some really special playing card decks from theory11 for us. We are huge board game people, but those are too bulky for travel so I’ve been looking up more ideas we could play with the neat cards I ordered- looks like a custom cribbage board needs to be a new years laser project to explore! I’m sold on anything with a cute skunk engraved on it :flower_playing_cards::skunk:
