Two projects, gifts for a family friend

Another edge lit nightlight. This incorporates a picture I took decades ago. My mother grew irises in our front yard. This picture has been photoshopped dozens of times for various projects, one of which is displayed in my home. My friend wanted the nightlight as a gift for his wife.

Also, he requested this tile for his son who is joining the Marines. It can be used as a coaster or be displayed any way he likes. The wood is Padauk, it has a cork bottom, and the phrase “Semper Fidelis” engraved in the wood. The engraving is more subtle that I would have liked. First time using Padauk.

These gifts turned out great! How do you do the plug in part of the nightlight?

The nightlight is an edge lit light I got from Amazon. The picture is on transparency film. It and a piece of wood veneer are sandwiched between two pieces of acrylic, all cut and engraved on the Glowforge.

I just remove the plastic piece from the nightlight and insert my project.
