cuz whoever that is didn’t make this guitar.
Nice to be noticed!
it would be nicer if they noticed ME instead of whoever @guitarbuilder is. whoever that is didn’t engrave that guitar. either @camcustomguitars or @double.u.studio.design would work.
i don’t even mind that they didn’t ask (tho they always have in the past), but please at least credit me properly if you want to use my images for marketing.
@guitarbuilder sounds awesome. Maybe he/she can give you some tips and tricks.
Probably a Lorem ipsum that made it through proofing?
could be?
if only their IG account actually had any content…
It still stinks not being credited properly. I appreciate your creations for what it’s worth.
Whole thing smells of algorithmic ai nonsense.
Hallucinating a creator. Ai flavored prose. I’m guessing a human never laid eyes on this until it was published. Alina strikes again.
It’s like a few months back when I got credited for someone else’s work ![]()
I thought it was because mine was the most recent post on the original topic, but “guitarbuilder” doesn’t seem to be a forum user either…
I hate that you didn’t get the credit for it @shop. They would be better off not crediting anyone at all and just say “one of our fabulous designers created this” than to assign it to someone who didn’t do it. Especially when it is something so unique, because layering guitars is not something everyone does or would even know how to do. Me, when I think of a guitar, I think of one already put together and would wonder, “How does he even fit it in a GF?” So yeah, it’s not right you didn’t get the credit.
Welcome to the world of AI slop. We’re cooked, chat.
the sad thing is that used appropriately and in connection with the human brain, it can be a truly amazing and timesaving tool. used lazily, sloppily, and without proper human supervision, it’s pure ####. it’s a great tool, like a pencil or a drawing tablet or a spreadsheet. but it’s not actually “intelligent” and can’t replace the human mind. it’s an aid to make you more efficient, not a replacement for the human brain.
I was noticing and almost commented here a couple months ago when one of their marketing emails went out featuring two of my projects, including making it the header image, with no mention of me and no prior contact.
If they are doing this with AI tools, this is a great demonstration of how to use those to unintentionally alienate your power user community.
By contrast, other thriving businesses that are showing off stuff I have done are scrupulous about asking permission, giving credit, and saying thank you.
Guy Kawasaki would rip them a new one.
They used to do a thing where if you tagged your projects with a material like wood etc it would automatically be eligible to be featured on their socials galleries. I am not sure that still happens. This seems like the next evolution of the idea – a hands off social media manager.
What could go wrong?
they used to literally ask you. i would get a note from bailey or from their IG account. but bailey isn’t there any more and they’re obviously automating their marketing. but not attributing, especially when it’s obvious that the image is a commercial image (yes, i am part of a business selling guitars), it’s even more inappropriate. if i was an ###, i’d send a takedown for copyright violation.
Greg buried the lede here.
Bailey seems to have left Glowforge. (So it seems on LinkedIn)
That’s a shame, but good for her if it’s on to bigger things.
I hate that for us as she was my go-to for a lot of things but as you say, if it is bigger and better things for her, good on her.
Man @shop that stinks. That was beautiful piece you should have received credit for!
I didn’t know Bailey had left…that’s a bummer.
Sorry this happened to you @shop. It’s beautiful work, and you deserve credit for it. And I sympathize–I’ve been ripped off so many times I’ve lost count. Glowforge started out kinda skeezy and has only gotten slimier as time’s gone by.
Keep up the great work!
Olav
