My kids brought these to school to hand out.
I’m sure they were a hit Thanks for the file.
How fun thanks!
Ok now for what is probably a dumb question. Did you place them back in the box just for the photo? I’m asking because if not how did you keep the paint out of the engraving?
That’s great! Thanks for the share!
I had the same question.
Thanks, they turned out great!
Hearts all around is always a good thing!
The only dumb question is that which is not asked.
Like minds think alike. I also wanted to ask as the picture is misleading. The hearts don´t match the paint shadow, so I figured maybe she is on to something I ignore, but you @Thumper369 and @tjones beat me to the question.
So, @Aloha, come clean, what is it?
Also, thanks for the share.
Lucky kids!
I’ll bet these hearts lift a lot of spirits today. Thanks for sharing!
When I paint engraved areas, I clean out the engraved area with a small brush and compressed air, leaving the masking on, spray with Krylon clear coat, let it dry, use paint markers or whatever acrylic paints I have handy, then spray with Krylon again. Lots of steps for what I do, but have always been happy with the results.
These are so cute!
Maybe he didn’t do anything! Sometimes the engrave doesn’t get covered up as easily with paint so it stays dark.
Thank you so much everyone!
Life has been busy.
It was cut out and engraved onto 1/8 inch oak plywood from plywood Hawaii.
When using that acrylic spray paint on this wood it seems to soak into the engrave and not be prominent.
Just as @trually deduced, I did nothing! Light spray. I have sprayed it too much in the past and filled the engrave with the spray paint, but for the most part even when I’ve overdone it, it seems to soak in and still be OK.
Although since that box was being used for the first batch, I used a piece of cardboard on top of the trashcan for the second batch, and it oversprayed, so now my trashcan is a just little bit red. “To remind me of your love”
And that’s the trick. When I was selling stuff, I made some storage boxes for baggies, engraved the tops, and spray painted the boxes. Never had any trouble with the engraving filling in unless I over-sprayed, which I do have a tendency to do because I’m just too much in a hurry and want to get it all done “in one coat” instead of waiting between coats to get it covered nicely.
