If any of you are in a position like I am, and you need to use the camera on your laptop, but don’t actually use the keyboard - I made you a stand.
Yes, you can buy the same of Amazon for like $15, but I had acrylic, a laser, and a strong need!
*The hole is .75", if it’s too narrow for your laptop, ungroup, resize, regroup.
Cut it
Remove masking
Stick it in a pre-heated ~300F/150Fº oven/toaster flat on a baking sheet
After ~5 minutes pull it out (with heat protection!) and curve it to the shape you desire
If it’s too hot (toaster at 320Fº) the acrylic will bubble, which certainly gives it some character
10 minutes later and my laptop can now stand on its own and the camera is at a decent eye level!
Thank you for sharing! It’s practical, and I agree that the bubbles give it character. Given the height of the laptop, it also looks pretty stable. I’ve had stands for my iPad and MacBook and encountered a fair share of them toppling over. I cut strips of felt to balance the stand, and I’ll try doing your shared design steps.
As a crafter I applied your engiuity, as an IT guy: IF I CATCH ANY OF MY USERS DOING THIS IM REVOKING YOUR ACCESS AND MAKING YOU DO CYBER AWARENESS TRAINING AGAIN
I can neither confirm nor deny the status of user [redacted] completion of CAT for the third time this year (and as much as I want to say I’m joking I’m really not ffs)
