Vertical organization for wood sheets

Hi so I made a organizer for wood that fits under the “ikea workbench” because I needed to organize it and prefer the materials facing up so I can see the color of whatever I’m working with, I made them with these Melamine sheets from craft closet

IDK I’m sure normal mdf would work but the melamine makes it smooth to insert the slots.

Here’s the file:

That’s beautiful  I love a good organisation!

If it takes you a lot of time to go through material you may find it warping from being on edge, so be aware if you find that happening!

practical-cuts FTW!

I always have preferred storing vertically like this, but if you are storing for longer time periods, it is better to have your materials flat so they don’t warp.

I mostly put MDF with it which I’ve never had them warp, only birch plywood has warped on me. Thanks though, idk I might make a horizontal storage later.

Excellent practical cut. Thanks for the share.

This looks very nice. I ‘try’ to stay organized but it’s so hard with the scraps I can’t seem to part with!

A very nice practical cut. It’s the smaller pieces that get overlooked sometimes.

I love organization of any kind! It is always satisfying to me.

I too, store all my wood (and large scraps) flat on shelves. It has worked quite well the last 8 years.

if I ever get back to stained glass work this would be perfect for organizing my vast array of glass.

Thanks for the file!!

Thanks for the file. I’ll probably not be using it for my woods, but it’ll be perfect for all my acrylics! I think I might even be able to use it in my kitchen for things like baking sheets. May have to make some size adjustments, but still… nice design that will be helpful.
