I’ve always thought the leather bags mail cariers used to use were so cool. Enter the Glowforge and COVID and I had plenty of time to make my own version. I added pockets to make it functional and it will fit most 15.6" laptops. I designed it so that every piece can be cut on a basic with no passthrough. I used a couple of things for the first time in this bag. First, conway buckles, they are so cool! I can’t believe I haven’t used these before! They require less harware to put together a shoulder strap. The other thing I used for the first time was horse butt strips from Maverick Leather. I made all the straps with it. They’re strong and durable and blend right in with the cow leather.
I made an Instructables with how I put everything together:
Wow! That looks amazing!!!
Nice work!!!
This makes me want to make one too!
Love the distressed look. What weight leather?
This is absolutely gorgeous!
Love the inside details and storage. Wow!
That’s so good!
That is fabulous!
Thanks. I used 6-7oz leather to make the bag. I dyed the leather using the technique I saw in a youtube video from creative awl. I did everything as they describe except the masking tape. I don’t have the patience to put it on and leave it for 24 hours.
It looks fabulous! Very nice work!
Great work! What did you line it with?
That is one gorgeous bag, love the inside organization!
Really nice design. That sure looks like a lot is stitching too.
Thanks! Stitching wasn’t too bad. I did use needle nosed pliers in some spots.
Thanks! I didn’t line it. It’s just full grain vegetable-tanned leather.
Very inspiring! Thanks for sharing!
