That is really something! It would be even better if they could make the cost good enough for the average consumer to use it. And if it’s manufactured, you wouldn’t have to worry about scouring through a stack of wood to get a straight one. Will be very interesting to see it come to market.
i’m kinda curious about this because (a) that factory is less than an hour away from me and (b) my company (architecture firm) does a lot of structures with mass timber already. wondering how much better this is than the mass timber beams we’re already using in place of steel.
I would think the materiel is good for architectural uses.
The question is really what tools are needed to work with it? Do standard tools like nail guns, saws, etc. work or do you need something special?
It’s easy to justify cost for structural reasons but harder if tools are going to cost a lot more too. Then might as well use what you’re already using.
