You use to have to sift through all the cool free laser files people posted and GF posted. Now is Just Kids and Small Craft stuff. Not that thats not kool but You know what i mean. Id love to see those days again….
There still lots of cool stuff, but it is kind of hidden under layers of stuff you may not be interested in… there’s a lot!
One suggestion is to check the difficulty level, or if you know a designer you can search for them.
Yes there’s tons of kool stuff on the sight. It’s just we’ve printed just about everything and it seems nothing kool has been posted in a while. If I’m missing it please forward it to me. Lol. I love my GF-Pro just haven’t found anything really kool lately.
Why not describe the type of project you’re looking for? Might help us make a recommendation.
I mean, I have no idea what you think it’s cool. This is sorted by newest and an advanced difficulty level. Have you made all of these?
and these are Intermediates.
Making other peoples creations is cool and all but there comes a day in every makers life where you have to roll up your sleeves and design your own things.
Of course, after you do that, make sure you share here as it will be an inspiration to others.
Thank you all for your recommendations we’ve made just about everything GF offers…premium ect… stuff like the dirigible was the space shuttle awesome more 3-D puzzles stuff like that is fantastic…Ornaments, doll houses, or miniature buildings and stuff has its fans. But as In my original statement I haven’t seen anything really kool posted in a min.. that’s just me personally with my personal opinion. I command everyone for sending stuff that’s awesome thank you all
I’ve been wanting to add a lot of my cooler items but the instructions layout requirements and process is time consuming. Hard to find the time to do it all
Have you tried designing anything yourself? (You might enjoy it once you learn how!)
Blasphemer!! How dare you use such language here?

Not to speak for @simpleservant01 but they’ve posted free designs on the forum in the past. You can see them here:
https://community.glowforge.com/search?q=%40simpleservant01%20in%3Afirst%20%23free-laser-designs
They’ve been trying to drum up traffic for some time and backing it up by offering files. We’re lucky to have them here advocating for the community.
lol I do and have. The requirements are so very time consuming I agree.
Yes a few
To get back to the original question though… What kind of projects do you like? What appeals to you? It’s hard to know what to post that you might think is cool without knowing a little bit more about the types of things you’d like to make.
You may have missed the reply to that question. The dirigible, the shuttle, the Trebuchet stuff like that that’s fun as a man to build is what I consider kool. But we also love make all kinds of stuff as well. What my original post was in reference to was all we seem to see anymore is cute lil ornaments, bookmarks, miniature add ins ect…
Ah I didn’t realize that was a direct reply to my question. Sounds like you like complex models of real world items.
Seen makecnc?
honestly, from the catalog designer’s perspective, the complicated cool stuff just doesn’t sell much. the tacky little things do. now, i don’t think i’ve submitted any of that kind of stuff (i just don’t bother designing it, it’s not my style). but i can definitely say that the simpler, practical things i’ve submitted make the most $$.
Exactly. And this:
I was going to submit my d20 design but it was just too much work to document it, and I didn’t like the licensing terms. I wanted exclusive for a set time(6 months), they don’t offer that.
yup, it kind of encourages simpler designs.
that said, i totally get why they want “thorough” directions. but it can be a barrier.
Glowforge also eliminated the entire US based catalog team a couple years ago, and transferred those duties overseas. As part of that team, we use to seek out premium designs for design of the month. Or we’d target the really good user submissions to feature. I have no idea what they have in place now, but it’s probably scaled back to what used to be done. I’d search out designers you like and see if they sell their designs outside the catalog.
