Why no surge protector/power strip?

Just setting up my new glow forge (yay!).
I’m curious why it says not to plug into a surge protector or power strip?

Thanks

Lawyers.

And lack of control over the quality and maintenance of the surge protector or power strip.

Plug it in at your own risk. If you do you’ll be like most here who have done just that :slightly_smiling_face:

We are told that the Glowforge has a built in power protection method.

This was discussed before – something about the way that surge protectors work, if you daisy chain them it can cause problems where they fail. It’s not a GF thing, it’s a surge suppressor thing. Since the GF has internal suppression, plugging it into an external suppressor is effectively daisy chaining.

Which is the “previously on GF forum…” discussion I was referring to.
