Last weekend I discovered I only had enough coffee for ONE (mega-) cup of coffee. Thankfully there’s a 24-hr grocery store nearby, so I didn’t have to suffer for long.
I decided to put my grumpy determination to good use, so I made this sign for the kitchen:
I tried a contrast scheme different from the catalog. If I made the sign twice as big, it would work well–at the original size the small letters blend into the shadows. A good fix for that would be to use cardstock for the lettering; there would be no shadows, and the height difference would add interest.
The next one I make will have light-colored letters and will look like I spilled coffee on the sign.
I’m going to make a few other signs for coffee friends where we sit and spin wool/knit together.
That’s why we have our coffee beans (we grind our own every day) shipped automatically every two months. We buy it five pounds at a time directly from Don Pablo, which is cheaper than buying their brand at Costco. I currently have half a can and another bag down in the storeroom, which I’ll be getting into by the time the next one ships. Only once has the delivery been delayed, and we had to go buy a small bag at the store.
Our Amazon subscriptions & any new orders are no longer 2-day, they’re now defaulting to 2 weeks. Not sure if the USPS is deprioritizing Amazon packages or what is going on. Other vendors are doing fine with UPS & USPS as well so it’s not due to ongoing recovery efforts from Helene. Seems an Amazon issue.
I recently had guests from Japan and accidentally took them to Salem (aka “Witch City”) for lunch. I had intended to take them elsewhere but wasn’t paying attention when I put the restaurant name in the GPS. They were thrilled, but I was reminded why we never go to Salem in October…
We get it directly from the coffee company (not Amazon) and they usually ship UPS. Any delays haven’t been due to shipping but because they haven’t been getting their supply of fresh beans from their suppliers.
