WLED Dual of 4 Frequency Icosahedral Geodesic Sphere Lamp

I think they have art shows where the pieces are not for sale, that you might win easily with that. It is a whole 'nother level beyond your other geometric stuff. That video would go nuts on X-twitter as folk would be trying to figure out what it even was.

It’s a limitation of the WLED software, but not the ESP32 platform. It’s easily capable of controlling all of those lights individually. I used a version of the same hardware for my marquee display, and that’s over 3000 LEDs.

Another option is the PixelBlaze that is (relatively) easily programmed in JavaScript for all manner of custom effects. Or if you’re a masochist, an 8-bit Arduino chip and do it the hard way.

Of course I think it looks amazing the way you have it now, just mentioning a few options since I’ve ended up becoming an addressable LED nerd.

Yes, limitation of WLED. I wanted this to be as plug and play as possible, which is why I chose the Dig2GO. I believe that i could just re-flash the board, which i think is esp32 with something else. For me, the built in effects and sound reactive capabilities of WLED out weighed the ability to customize each face. The other option would be to wire the colors together and create segments, but the effects would look different. Maybe i’ll try that someday on a different project.

Pixelblaze is a great match for this. i resisted trying it for a few years but now use it for a lot of projects. the fun part is now you can sync multiples of them which is a very cool effect.

Amazing! Do you share the stl files anywhere? I’d love to build one.

#1 Asking for files is against the rules here as the person has done a lot of work and you are implying that their effort should just be handed to others, just as you might feel if you put in incredible work and someone implied you should just hand out the results for them to copy.

#2 In his particular case, even if he handed out those files, there would be few if any who could do the job anywhere near as well.

Sorry, not at this time. I’d like to think of this piece as a 1 of 1.
