There have been a number of layered LED acrylic projects posted here. I thought I would add this one from Erin St. Blaine for inspiration. There is whole professional-grade tutorial here for those nervous about tackling something like this.
That’s really clear. Especially the programming steps. I’ve yet to try anything with programming LEDs since most of the “instructions” were the equivalent of “and then program your LEDs”.

Same here! I have a drawer and three plastic bins full of electronics components.
