Working with Leathers

Hello!
I was wondering about working with leather. I know Veg tan leather is the preferred type of leather to use but was wondering if Hydro Repel - Waterproof Veg Tanned Leather is also acceptable? Trying to make a leather patch for a hat.
Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the forum  You’d want to know what’s in the repellent, or since they specify a “proprietary process” and probably won’t tell you, you can ask them to verify it’s not any sort of PVC or chloride based process.

I’d be very curious about the answer since that stuff looks cool!

Oh man, that stuff does look cool and super handy for patches! Unfortunately, I agree that the only way to know for sure is to ask them. If you do find out, I’d love to know too.
