Yet another Mini-Fireplace

Inspired by excellent mini-fireplaces created by @deirdrebeth, @cynd11, @pubultrastar and others here in the forum and the catalog, I decided to challenge myself to create a mashup that incorporated the best ideas from fellow members and a few of my own.

Since I was in a bit of a hurry, I didn´t have time for long engrave times or to hand paint the bricks, so I resorted to this trick that worked well for me:

  • I ligthly scored the outline of the fireplace on MDF.
  • took a photo of a brick wall, scaled and printed HQ on photo paper
  • carefully glued it into place on the outline, aligned with the the contour of the bricks
  • cut the fireplace.

I also engraved the texture of a sliced log on the log surfaces (top, front and sides)

Designed for a snug fit and numbered the matching parts to facilitate assembly, disassembly for flat storage and re-assembly the next season. I designed the phone cradle wide enough for phones with bulky cases and included a small wedge to fit the phone snug against the fireplace for phones without cases.

Finally I printed a small QR code that links you to the youtube of the fire.

I cut 5 and personalized them with the family name engraved on the mantlepiece. I also cut personalized santa stockings to glue to the mantlepiece.

I am pleased with the end result and that It became a valuable learning experience.

My favorite one! :heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart:

I love how you did the bricks. I will certainly try that next time I make one of these.
