Yet another snap-together joint (pegboard)

I wanted an easy to assemble design that didn’t rely on glue or friction fit. This one just snaps together and locks. I don’t think I’ve seen this particular joint on the forum before.

Thanks to @markevans36301 for the [hook part] that fits into the pegboard.

Should work for most 1/8" plywoods.

Great practical cut. Thank you!

Neat - and as I happen to need one of those I’ll give it a whirl!

Those little relief slots are clever.

This is great! Will this be easy to make longer without causing any problems? I know I can adjust the holes (I have some tiny little metal files that I actually want to use this for, as well as my screwdrivers), but will need it quite a bit longer to fit where I want it to go. Thanks for the share!

Sure, it could be longer. More supports if it grows too long, obviously.

I didn’t actually test whether they were necessary, but they do seem to work, and I never liked the type where the spring latch was just a narrow protruding stick, easy to break off.

This made me think of @Dan’s glueless tabs, so I had to go hunt them down.

Yeah. That’s a neat solution but it’s the kind of thing I’m increasingly trying to avoid — anything that requires application of force to get it assembled. It’s OK for small simple assemblies, but it can make larger ones difficult.

Also, sometimes unglued friction-fit joints that I thought were quite tight will come apart after a couple of years in the garage.

(That said, it remains to be seen whether this one will stay in one piece.)

Wow, this is why we are better together. Nice job and expect to see these joints show up elsewhere.

Yeah same. I fooled with using locking cams too:

The 50 locking joint document listed in that thread is worth the time. Unfortunately there’s some link rot so here’s the actual document:

Fantastic! Starting the year with some organization!

Thank you for sharing your work.

Oh, neat! I’ll have to give it a try, thanks!

It worked perfectly

I made a second one with oblong holes for my pliers and scissors. If I make a third I’ll likely make those holes even bigger.

Great!
I did my little pliers set this way, but it’s too soon to say whether I’d recommend it:

I’m loving these latest iterations and need to iterate off these. Is there a name for that? I see it in the gridfinity world a lot . Kind of a ping pong thing.

Dunno, just made it up based on the pliars’ shape.

I’m having trouble finding the file to download for your post? Could you point out where you posted it please? Would love to try this out!

It’s in the OP directly under the photo. The line drawing is the file you want – right-click on it and “Save As…” (or your OS specific equivalent).
