I have recently purchased a Glowforge Aura that will cut 1/8 basswood but not 1/4 inch. settings are on high and low speed. I have made several passes and the wood has barely been scored.
If it is Glowforge material, suggest you contact support. They will reimburse you for material if it is supported and the machine has been maintained (they will likely require you to test it after performing the appropriate troubleshooting steps, which I assume you have done.)
Welcome to the forum.
Where did you purchase the 1/4" plywood? Not all wood is laser friendly. Can you provide a few more details so that we can offer assistance.
We purchased high quality wood on Amazon and at Home depot. You have not carried 12 x 12 1/4" wood since I purchased this machine. If this machine will not cut 1/4" plywood as advertised, I will return it and expect a full refund. We have tried a number of 1/4" wood types with absolutely zero results.
There’s no “you” - we are just customers like yourself. Glowforge staff does not participate here.
Glowforge does not advertise supporting materials other than their own - although many will work. There is a spreadsheet of settings for non-Glowforge materials somewhere.
Glowforge materials are designed to work reliably on the machines it sells. The layers in what you purchased - regardles of it being “high quality” - are not optimized for laser cutting. I have found very few materials available from big-box hardware stores to be suitable.
1/4" is the very limit of what the crafting machine can handle. The larger (and more expensive) machines are better - but I avoided 1/4" as much as I could.

Thanks for the tip!
If you are using an Aura , then you are biting offf far more than it can chew. A Pro would have a tougher time with it than is normal fare. An Aura is better with very thin stuff than a pro. The eco-color iron on, paper, 1/32 wods, cardboards, et c, are the regular fare for the Aura. 1/8 wood is a reach, and Revolution Plywood (which is cheap, soft, and 3/32) is as much as I would consider for the Aura. Eveb the Pro has considerable limitations, paper is hard and while 1/2" will fit trying to cut itis as moch a nightmare. To cut bigger is possible with machines that cost ten times as much.
