Completely valid question, but I suspect we’ll never know the answer to it.
Yes & No I expect. The drop tests, etc seem to have been sufficient to prevent damage to the unit but not damage to the boxes as all of the damaged boxes we’ve seen reported had no issues with the unit inside. The condition of the box on delivery may not have been material a year ago when they did the testing as it’d only be needed for warranty work or repairs. But then in April when they made the no-tube replacement decision, that now made the condition of the box at the end of the journey as important as the contents inside.
It’s the law of unintended consequences at work
Time for the UPS Drone Tracking fleet to be launched!!!
Congrats to all you who are getting your shipping e-mails!!!
Now grab your Glowforge and get the heck out of the way
JK, happy for you guys! (…but seriously, hurry up and get yours so we can be next!)
I suspect the drop test is the expected height that a shipper would drop the box, but doesn’t limit what the unit has apparently been subjected to by UPS.
I got my tracking number today! I get my very own Glowforge next Thursday!
SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!
Awesome! Congrats!
That’s 4 now right?! Don’t slow down now!
Who’s next?
Man!
You’d think I wouldn’t be as excited as I am by this at this point… BUT I AM EXCITED!!!
AuntieMame!
Oh man, hope you get it today. FWIW, my UPS notice came late in the day yesterday, the GF email came today. Fingers crossed for you!
So. How did they get your shipping address. Or did you recieve that email some time ago?
We need some more pro shipping notices, if no one else wants to, I will volunteer to get mine.
Really does make me happy to see more machines getting shipped out, congratulations to all the happy new Glowforge homes.
We got the shipping address request email on June 13th. So it’s going to be about 5 weeks from then for delivery.
A lot of the time the default password is put on the actual device, or you could try logging into your Verizon account online and resetting it.
Well that’s adorable. ROFL!
I’m really looking forward to you getting yours and seeing what you do with it.
That was so me when I got my email… And it doesn’t go away, it just changes from “what to laser first,” to “what to laser next?!”
