3M adhesive use when cutting acrylic

Hi,
I am needing some help in the matter that after cutting acrylic with 3M adhesive on the back of it during cutting it always comes out with residue on the inside of the text? I make backpack tags and therefore place the names I cut out on acrylic so I need them to be clean. I have tried baby wipes etc, lowering my cutting speed, any help would be great! I have attached a couple of pictures to help explain my problem.
Thank you!

Are you pointing to the black char? When i cut with 3M, it doesn’t char like that. You might want to consider adjusting your settings to use slightly less power or a slightly faster speed-not slowing it down. Slowing it down should make it worse because there will be power directed in spots for longer.

Another option would be to mask the front, flip the design, and cut it with adhesive side up. Also, i think in the catalog or somewhere in the forum, there was a file that allowed you to create risers to put under your material to prevent flashback.

Thank you so much for your help! What speed do you suggest setting it to?

Depends on the material, but I suggest taking a small patch or scrap and cut some small circles to see how fast you can get away with and still cut through. I’d try speeding it up by 5 first. Again, take a scrap and test it first, it would be terrible to speed it up and not have it cut through on an actual project. For acrylics though, I usually start with proofgrade settings, so I’d pick the color and then go from there.

Any time I need to get rid of chemical crud, distilled wood, leftover sticky, etc., I use hand sanitizer. It will dissolve most of that.

Anytime I am cutting acrylic with 3M, I flip it and cut with the 3M side facing up - just remember to mirror your image before you cut. I have used baby wipes and a cotton swab to clean any residue, but have dialed in my settings finally, and don’t have this happen often (usually when I’m starting a new project, I double check settings).
