50$ a month for premium?

Mine’s only six feet. But by the time I stand up and turn around and take a few steps it’s usually flashing, unless the file includes a big engrave operation. The fast lane thing is the least interesting part of Premium in my opinion.

The only plausible explanation is he is actually a gf employee in disguise.

I totally agree! It is quite shocking (but pleasant to see)

I just signed up for 50.00 a month with no option for 14.99 - Did I miss some the deal?

The $14.99 deal is gone, but there’s a 50% off Black Friday deal. It’s linked at the top of the “Discover” bar on the right hand side of your dashboard screen. (It’s always worth taking a moment to scroll through that bar – they’ve been posting free Christmas designs every few days, too.)

Honestly, my basic service seems just as fast, if not slightly faster. Switching a portion of users over to premium servers might have cleared the data pipes a bit for the rest of us. I’ll probably stick with basic package. I use my GF almost exclusively as a glorified router, so I don’t need design tools, and I don’t generate large files. I’m delighted with the machine so far. The two-hours plus I use to spend on a laborious drill, mill, route routine to produce a part is now accomplished in under a minute and a half. My only problem is keeping enough wood in stock to feed this beast. :grinning:

Coming back to this later my glow forge does seem slower to process jobs than it was before. Maybe it’s just because a lot of people are using their machines to make things because of christmas?

If you are engraving, they did change some of the settings to have higher quality engraves, but the result was it also takes longer to complete. It has nothing to do with the upgrade to premium, if that is what you are referring to.

So they changed basic SD graphic engrave to be higher quality in the last few weeks?

Yes, they recently (last month or so) tweaked the SD settings for quality and sent out a notification to everyone in the Latest Improvements section of the Dashboard, along with posting it here in the Forum.

I am late to the party because I haven’t been using my GF much lately. Time to put in my two cents with all y’all.

When Premium was first announced, I thought it was a pretty good idea. People who wanted easy designs and built in fonts could get them, and “power users” could keep doing things the usual way. I did think it was stingy to keep super basic stuff like alignment tools in Premium… but, well, OK.

Time passed and today I got the email about losing Premium features. No big deal, I thought. Then I read the email and this caught my eye.

So they are actually going to nuke the online designs? That sucks. That also feels stingy. It would have been much nicer to have a limited number of safe designs, or maybe purge ones with big bitmaps.

How do you know if you are a “legacy” user? They should have explained this in the email.

Overall I don’t love how Premium turned out, but I don’t hate it either. But I have got to put my two cents in on the price… fifty bucks a month! That seems steep for what you get. That’s more than a Fusion 360 subscription.

Now I realize that the sub comes with artwork, artwork that is cleared for resale. That’s very valuable to some users… and not at all to others. Even when I make a lot of stuff, I am never going to sell it. That would never occur to me. I wonder what the sub fee would be without the royalty-free artwork.

If you already had your Glowforge before Premium pricing was announced then you’re a legacy user.

That seems pretty legacy to me :slightly_smiling_face:

Sorry this Premium extortion is simply ridiculous and a truly poor business model and disrespect to those that invested in this product and company. Want to sell trinket files or font packages. Sell them! You lock the creative online but limit me storing my files? These ridiculous moves Will be the thing that sinks this product and company in short order. Just know this companies accelerated growth was created by the Owners/investors of this product. (Hence why this crazy extortion was conceived After the market was captured). Just know Twice as fast as growth that same foundation Will drag this product to the bottom with moves like this. Many like me considered other Much lower price options but Paid the Premium price In Advance for this product. I have seen much larger companies crumble for worse business model shifts. A truly greedy and disrespectful plan to be honest. Hope to sell my Pro of 3 weeks fast and support a company with a more ethical respect for its owners.

Out of all the posts on this thread yours has to be the most ridiculous with absolutely No valid point! When you bought cable it was Know you were not buying a product only a monthly access to Content. When you buy a Tesla you decide if you want to Buy a Performance model or long range. The difference is Tesla then offers the Performance upgrade ala cart for those that decided they would like to add it. NOT rent it monthly! Glowforge would Rent you an hourly Pro upgrade in the same method if they could.

False.
