Biggest glowforge project to date

So mind blowing!

That is just beautiful.

Unreal, i can’t imagine how much you’ve spent on wood.

Beautiful

Actually not so much, I buy the wood (3mm MDF 450x300mm) from a specialised laser shop here in the Netherlands. It costs about 1 Euro a sheet, I’m gonna need about 700 to finish the project.

Amazing work! Love how you have creatively designed around the size constraints of the Glowforge to develop your interlocking system. Thanks for all the process pictures and inspiration.

That is so cool!

I see you designed this in rhino. Any workflow tricks to translate the 3d model to cut files? I find that I spend a lot of time unrolling and orienting my geometry to get it ready to cut.

Hi, you have the design for sale??

Hello Owen,

What I normally do is save the selected items I want as a .AI file and then use a converter to convert the files from .AI to .SVG.
You can find a bunch of these free converter sites on the web.

Sorry,

Forum rules say we are not allowed.
And the 3D file is quite complicated I would need to know what exactly you want and change it.

It’s been a while since my last update.
That’s because for now it’s a lot of repetitive work just cutting out the peaces and painting them.
And also because of vacation.
But I have started mounting the panels to the Oak to finish the doors and am happy with the result.

I also changed the design again as my wife liked it we added an other 2 meters and a door and some drawers to it

What is the final project? A tiny home? It is pretty spectacular!

No it’s quite a big home, this is just a small part of it.

Thanks for the update. I am soooo looking forward to seeing how it looks when you complete the installation.

I actually love the interest of the panels that aren’t quite finished yet, where the structural supports are showing through. (It would be a pain to keep dusted, but I like the effect.)

It’s looking spectacular! :slightly_smiling_face:

It is a separate room of the house? Or a piece of art?
Great design!

So, do the tiles fit together entirely or do you need some sort of filler?

So much time has passed since the last update. Did you finish the project?

The tiles fit together so no deed for filler
