Oh Jeez! I canā€™t believe I missed my Cakeday! By a couple of weeks, no less. Thanks gang, Iā€™ve probably been hitting it too hard lately.

(Anybody got any mad ā€œsheetrock repair skillzā€?)

Whatā€™d you do, have a paint gun battle in your room?

Iā€™m really good with sheetrock, but sadly gainfully employed so time is too rich a commodity!

It looks like youā€™ve done the most annoying part.

Over 150 ā€œnail popsā€ and cracks in that bathroom alone. All have to be dug out, re-nailed and filled before we can even hit it with the primer. It takes a while.
(Every room is like thatā€¦weā€™ve been doing one room at a time to try to minimize the mess. Thatā€™s the third. Weā€™ve only got ā€¦ohhhhā€¦14 or 15 more to go. Not counting closets.)

And yeah, we couldnā€™t afford to pay someone to do it right. Not these days. :no_mouth:

Butā€¦they look much better afterwards. And we needed to ditch the old ā€œTrading Spacesā€ dĆ©cor job anyway. (What the heck was I thinking?)

Off white/white/beige makes a much easier to maintain neutral background.

Covid drove so many small businesses out of business that what used to be easy-to-find custom work is now gone. I have not even found a source for the door overhangs we lost in the hurricane, much less trying to put them up.

I prefer light/medium gray with white trim myself.

I heard that gray is on itā€™s way out and beige is coming back, but I donā€™t know. Iā€™m not really up on all that lol but there is a greige paint that Iā€™ve heard is popular, I think it is called agreeable greige or agreeable gray or something.

Weā€™re actually going to have to split it up, cream/warm tones in certain areas (mellow), and more light gray/white/cool (energizing) tones in others. (The rooms do not directly connect, fortunately.) :slightly_smiling_face:

But why not have both, for different moods? I have all kinds of moods. Might as well adapt my living environment to suit them. Gently. And no more chasing styles except through accessorizing. (The Moroccan bedroom paint job and dark colors have had their day. And like I mentioned before, the last time we painted, ā€œTrading Spacesā€ was a thing. Talk about getting tired of something in a hurry!)

I have always thought that one side of a narrow room might be an image of a forest or tropical beach to kind of open it up a bit, but getting the perspective right is hard.

They sell giant wall stickers to do just that

Iā€™m a huge fan of colour on walls, though I donā€™t tend to change themā€¦ever

My bedroom is purple, guest room teal, etc. Currently my living room has to remain white as we use a projector on the wall, but even that Iā€™m looking at painting the other walls
