Camera not taking pictures, not able to order replacement cable to Europe and support page not there

Camera not taking pictures.

Opened and closed clips. Cable is totally glued down till it reaches the clips (2018 version, laser tube still fine). So I cannot completely take the ends out of the clips without further damaging the cable (shoudn’t matter anymore anyways). The ends look perfectly in place by the way.

Now I want to order a new cable, but GF only ships to Canada and US. I am living in Europe, Netherlands.

If I go to the support page of GF, it says ‘Uh-Oh. This page knows nothing.’ If I try to submit my request, the submit button doesn’t work.

Any suggestions?

I’d call them.

Here’s a pinned message from the official help channel on discord.

I created this pinned post for supplmental information about our troubleshooting process when reaching out to support.

How We Troubleshoot

I highlighted two sections from that page below that can help find the fastest resolution path as well:

We look at a lot to see what went wrong
Our first step is to gather information about your Glowforge and, if relevant, the print that gave you trouble. Information that we gather about your Glowforge and any designs that you have uploaded is treated as confidential and used only for diagnostic and troubleshooting purposes. Complete information about how we use and protect your data can be found in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Machine information
Your Glowforge gathers information about what it’s doing when it encounters a problem and sends it to us so we can help you. For example, we can tell if your unit has ever connected successfully to Wi-Fi. If your unit has a temperature error, we can tell that too. We can also examine engineering details about what happened, which helps us help you get back on track.

How you can help

-Let us know what happened and what you expected to happen
-If you saw an error message or your machine behaved in a way that’s unexpected, describe what you saw
-If there is something unusual on screen, like an error, send us a screenshot or email us a photo of it
-If there’s something unusual on your machine, send us a photo or a video of it

We can be reached by phone at +1-888-8GLOWFORGE during the following hours: Weekdays: 8 AM - 3 PM PST Weekends: 10 AM - 3 PM PST

Did you just clean your machine? Mine sad the same message after I cleaned mine .I did get the contacts wet . After about 4 day when I turned the machine back on it worked again.

Thank you for your help. I sent an email. If I don’t get any response, I call them.

Thank you for your reply and thinking along. I haven’t been cleaning recently, but I will try.

@Irma Were you able to email us directly at support@glowforge.com or were you able to submit a request on this page Submit a request – Glowforge? If you have any trouble with a response, or unable to reach us by phone during the office hours, feel free to tag me here and I can ping our team.

You may have already visited the Help and Learning Center page for this issue: Lid Camera Didn't Take a Picture but I’m mentioning it here just in case.

Support may ask for close up photos of the 5 connections for the black and white lid cables highlighted in the reference image attached to this message:

Having those handy can help limit back and forth communications for troubleshooting.Thank you!

Update

  • Conclusion support: black lid and white lid cable are not working properly
  • Glowforge DOES NOT SHIP TO EUROPE
  • Advice tot try Amazon, Michaels, Joann: Amazon only had a white cable available, no cables at Michaels and Joann at this moment, crazy pricing at Etsy and not sure which sellers I can trust

Luckily I have been able to let Glowforge ship black and white cables (one spare of each just in case) to an American friend and she will ship to the Netherlands Europe. Hopefully this will be the solution.

In the mean time doing some homework for a replacement lasermachine in case I can’t fix the problem. Not Glowforge anymore for obvious obstacles like a big ocean in between. I do feel a little hole in my heart, because this was my first CNC machine and my happy place. Hopefully it will be working again in a couple of weeks and otherwise there will be a replacement soon. Suggestions are welcome, but I do understand if this is not the right forum for that.

Kind regards and hopefully not a farewell, Irma

If you can’t get it working look at xTool and Gweike for alternatives. Lots of options, new features & better price/performance. GF has been stalled in terms of the hardware for almost 10 years and the software hasn’t kept up to what something like the xTool creative suite can do, especially if you have multiple different types of machines

Thank you for your advice
